Social Assistance in Ontario
Ontario, Canadaโs largest province, also offers social welfare programs to those in need in the province through Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program.
Ontario Works is a welfare benefit that covers the cost of living for those in needs and supports them in finding a job. ODSP provides financial and employment support to people with disabilities.
Additional benefits are provided through Ontario Trillium Benefit, a benefit that is made up of 3 credits: Northern Ontario Energy Credit, Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit and Ontario Sales Tax Credit.
Eligibility for Ontario Social Assistance
Ontario residents that are 16 years and above can apply for Ontario works. However, visitors and tourists are ineligible.
